I graduated high school in 2020.
During that summer while the world was in shut down with the COVID-19 virus, I had a deep encounter with the Lord and was reading the Bible. My biggest prayer was that I’d quickly find community upon moving to College Station to attend Texas A&M University that fall.
God immediately answered that prayer the first time I came to Antioch. He clearly spoke to me that that church was home. Within weeks of my first semester at A&M, I was committed to a lifegroup and was baptized during Baptism Sunday. Since then, I have grown in intimacy with the Lord as well as socially as I’ve learned how to live interdependently in the Body of Christ, and professionally as I’ve taken on different leadership roles and look forward to the call of ministry on my life.
In the summer of 2021, I took a short-term trip with Antioch College Station to Washington, D.C. This trip opened my eyes to the heart of God for the United States and introduced me to a revival prayer community that I am still involved with today.
In spring 2023, a revival took place at Texas A&M. I witnessed many people come to know Jesus, get baptized, and become a part of a local church. One of these new believers who I was discipling at the time encouraged me to come to a Jesus Gathering house church. There, I witnessed the same power of God I had seen on-campus during the revival. I continued showing up for this gathering for a year, and I got the opportunity to travel to San Diego, California and Boston, Massachusetts with these people.
During my time at Antioch College Station, I was given the privilege to lead and equip fellow believers on both outreach and prayer teams. I also served to foster a welcoming environment on Sunday mornings and taught the next generation in childcare. Then in January 2024, I got to take a short-term trip with Antioch to the Middle East.
I was a part of many different organizations at Texas A&M University, but only one truly stuck: Impact. I served with this organization from February 2021 to December 2023. As a counselor for two years, I facilitated small group discussions with 10 freshman/transfer A&M student campers about the Word and led follow-up with these students for a semester after our August retreat to ensure they were getting plugged into a local church. I also helped coordinate camp events with 50 campers and provided guidance for each event.
As a prayer teamer for one year, I interceded for my camp and supported the camp counselors in any way I could.
At Texas A&M, I participated in many different school traditions. But my favorite semester was when I served as a Hullabaloo U Peer Mentor. I created curriculum designed to help first-year students achieve academic and personal goals, facilitated discussions about campus resources and effectively developed class community, and had meetings with each student individually in addition to organizing monthly class events.
In May 2024, I graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and a minor in Parks and Natural Resource Management as a first-generation college student.
